Referring to the ghetto

The lessons of the hood
Often misunderstood

Negativity is the image
So the derogatory is the blemish

Though these are false narratives
False allegations make us seem arrogant

The experience brought us all trauma
Misunderstood why some were raised by only mama

It’s because they were young and blue
Just like we’re young too

Making mistakes and growing
While fitting the stereotype not knowing

Teaching one another how to be better
While pushing yourself to never settle

The ghetto made legends
Preached to by reverends

The hood is where it’s at
I know you heard that

This style is wild, it’s simply eccentric
Can’t be upset because you can’t get this

This style is ours and it’s too smooth
Throwing a party like in the 90’s just to catch the groove

Referring to ghetto, you are appreciated
Referring to the ghetto, we never would of made it
